HAVE YOUR OWN TV SHOW
WHY TELEVISION?
Since 1987 Voices For The Unborn spent six years on radio, mailed
our newspaper to forty states, and have placed billboards on major
highways. In 1993 we went on television with a half hour television
show where we interviewed hundreds of pro-life guests. Go here for
how you can broadcast your own half-hour.
Every type of media plays an important part in furthering the pro-life
message. Each type of media has a specific mission in mind. The
billboard is a split second glance at a message as you pass by it
in your car. The radio signal is sent out into an area where millions
of people live but they must tune in to the specific signal. Most
of all, they have to mentally picture what they are hearing. The
newspaper is an excellent method of keeping other pro-life people
informed of what is happening in the pro-life community. If a pro-life
newspaper could be delivered to millions of other people other than
pro-life readers, people would then be able to understand what the
pro-life movement is all about. The problem is that it would cost
thousands of dollars to reach all these people with a pro-life newspaper.
Now let's take a look at what television can do. During the years
of television broadcasting we have received thousands of calls.
Some women canceled their abortions, some asked where they could
get help, some had been away from the Sacraments for many years
and called to tell us that after watching our show, they returned
to the Sacraments. We have received pictures of children from mothers
who had changed their minds about having an abortion after watching
our television show. Our records show that of the first 568 calls
we received from our television show, only fifteen were pro-abortion
calls. Of these fifteen calls many changed their stand on abortion
and several subscribed to our newspaper and some joined pro-life
groups in their area.
I am sure you have heard from others that apathy is our major problem.
It should be understood that for someone to be apathetic, they must
have knowledge about the issue you are referring to. I have found
that if you go outside the pro-life circle and talk to strangers,
you will find that 95% of people I have interviewed have very little
knowledge about abortion. What would they know about abortion when
the major media does very little. if anything to inform people the
truth about abortion. This is why we must create our own media if
we are going to reach the public. After fourteen years of talking
to thousands of people that have contacted us because of our media,
we know that we must expand pro-life media.
It will be up to you to help create this media. Not only will we
be able to bring the truth about abortion to the public but we will
also find that there are thousands of people out there willing to
help. We know this because most of the people we have talked to,
after enlightening them on some of the issues, ask how they can
help. We believe that there are thousands of people that would be
willing to work with the pro-life movement but they do not know
who to call. Even though hundreds of written letters are distributed
to people, we must first educate them as to why they should help.
This can all be done through the power of television. We ask you
to analyze this package and compare it with the cost of your present
expenditures for education and decide for yourself which plan will
deliver the best results for the money.

HOW
YOU CAN BROADCAST YOUR OWN HALF HOUR TELEVISION SHOW FOR AS LOW
AS $400 A WEEK

Joe Mortimer interviewing Father Pavone and
correspondent Joe Wall in VFTU studio.
There
are several steps in producing your own pro-life television show:
#1--You need a television
studio that can produce the show.
#2--You must be able to air
the show on a television network.
Let
us review step #1, the ability
to produce a television show - If you went to a television
studio to produce a half hour show you will find that it will cost
$4,000 or more depending on the amount of editing that would be
required. Voices For The Unborn has been producing half hour pro-life
shows for over eight years. We have come up with an idea that will
make it possible for any organization to have its own television
show without the expense of producing this show. Here is how it
is done.
Each half hour show would consist of a two-minute intro and a two-minute
exit to the show, leaving a 26-minute body of the show called the
donut. In the body of the show the host will interview well known
national and international guests that will be of interest to your
viewing audience. Noted guests such as Fr. Frank Pavone, the National
Director Of Priests For Life, Lord David Alton of the House of Lords
in England, Mercedes Wilson, U.N. representative from Guatemala,
and national leaders of pro-life organizations.
The INTRO would be a tape that would bring to the viewer the name
of your organization, the message you want them to know about your
organization, and how they can contact you. This segment would close
with you saying, "Now stay tuned for our pro-life show".
The EXIT would also be a taped segment starting with, "I hope
you enjoyed today's show and please tune us in next week and learn
the truth about abortion. Once again in this segment you bring out
your message.
By editing into the body of the show your intro message and your
exit message, when shown in its entirety, this half hour show will
appear as professionally produced by your organization. By using
this method of producing a half hour show it is now possible to
put this show across the country as more and more pro-life groups
become part of this mission. Just think, for the first time a national
pro-life television show.
Step #2, placing the television show on
a cable network, is an integral part of this package - Voices
For The Unborn has been working with three agents that assure us
that they can put our television shows in almost any city in the
country. The cost of these shows varies in cost depending on the
coverage of the system. You could spend $100 a week for a small
number of viewers or thousands of dollars for a large number of
viewers. We are presently spending $325 a week to reach 8,000,000
viewers. Your budget for this project would dictate the coverage
you will receive. Once you have established your budget, we will
shop the market for you and come up with several options of both
price and location.
Isn't it time that the church stops preaching to the choir but rather
have the church and the choir preach to the people? If you have
any questions about this system or which to join us in this mission
please call us. Before we can win the battle against abortion we
must first win the minds and the hearts of the people. Now it is
time for you to join us in this mission. If you are part of a large
pro-life operation, an independent pro-life organization, or an
affiliate of several pro-life operations, you can take advantage
of this television mission. Voices For The Unborn has been on television
for eight years. We know from the responses we have received that
the way to educate people on the abortion issue is through television.
If you would like to see a sample tape of our show, please let us
know.
